For years, I have drew stadiums on my sketch pads and pretty much
everywhere I have found a blank piece of paper.
I even made a stadium out of wood once and its still standing!!!
Anyways, this was my attempt to draw a stadium
using visual basic.
This stadium is a multi-decked stadium. The west endzone is a
double
decked area, the east is a single deck, and the north and south are a
triple decked area.
Between each deck, I have drawn a suite area for those people who are
rich enough to pay for a suite.
Each section of seating in the stadium is textured map with a picture
of fans cheering on a football game for a local high
school.
The grass is a textured map of... you guessed it... grass.
And the windows for the suite levels is textured with a picture of a
crystal.
In order to show how lighting works, the stadium is shown as it would
look in the night time. If you look at the top left corner of
your
screen, you can see the blue moon.
Their is a bank of lights on the south end of the stadium that
illuminates the area.
In addition, you will notice our cone thingy that we created on the
east side of the endzone. I thought it would be a
nice touch to add some of the work I have done in this class.
Finally, if you look above the stadium, you will notice the Tropicana
blimp flying in circles overahead to provide TV coverage in case UCSD
ever has a football team.
So, to conclude, some of the things I have implemented in my stadium
are:
- texture mapping
- animation (blimp)
- a whole lot of quad strips and triangle fans
- lighting
If I had more time on this program, I would have defintely worked
on
the lighting a little more. But hey, its a night game.
Also, I would
have given the stadium more shape (ex: levels where people are on in
the stadium, concession stands, etc...)
I hope you enjoyed my drawing as much as I did and that everyone have a
Happy Holidays!
