Alex Cloninger

Biography

Alexander Cloninger received his Ph.D. in 2014 at the University of Maryland.

Following his graduation, he received the NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship which he chose to spend at Yale, working with Ronald Coifman and others in the Applied Mathematics Program. Cloninger's main area of research are in the mathematical foundations of Data Science (e.g. deep learning) using tools from harmonic analysis, spectral theory, functional analysis, numerical analysis, statistics, optimization, and computer science.
